Madame F Queer Britain Art Award 2025
Tarot card illustrator named as finalist in Madame F Queer Britain Art Awards 2025
Illustrator Klaus Piechocki has been named as a finalist for the Madame F Queer Britain Art Award 2025 for their recently self published queer tarot deck, The Hierophanies Tarot.
2025 is the fourth year that Queer Britain have partnered with Madame F wine for the Madame F Queer Britain Art Award. Together they want to celebrate queer creativity and support the art emerging from their talented communities.
“Our judges looked for originality and overall artistic quality.”
Entries were paintings, drawings, illustrations, graphics, tapestry, collage, photography – any 2D medium artists were working in.
Klaus’s shortlisted work, The Hierophanies Tarot, is a colourful and queer 81 card tarot deck centering LGBTQ+ identities. Klaus designed and illustrated the deck over three years, and raised funds for the first print run with a successful campaign on crowdfunding website Kickstarter.
“I’m stunned and delighted to be a finalist! It’s been a very hard year for my family, and for this to happen has been a lovely surprise.
I love Queer Britain- their mission to uplift queer voices is very much needed in these darker times.
I’m honoured to be named alongside so much creative talent and wish everyone luck.”
Eight judges from across the UK creative community including three winners from previous years, judged the submissions.
Finalists will be invited to a special reception at the museum in Granary Square in September for to find out if they have won. Judges will award three top prizes of £1500, £1000 and £500 for first, second and third place.
The finalists and their work can be seen in an online gallery on Queer Britain’s website here.
“I am proud to be on this jury. [The award is] a great opportunity to celebrate LGBTQ+ people, of all ages, and our artistic endeavours. Queer Britain is working very hard to set up a national LGBTQ+ museum, and this award shows that queer creativity is at its very heart.”
